Concrete Never Looked So Good!

The concrete crew poured the footer on Friday, February 6. In between the excavation and pouring the footer, the Missouri weather decided to hit us with a couple of inches of sleet and a few more inches of snow. Much to our dismay, the "ditch" dug out for the frost wall held about a foot of water. Go figure...we dig a pond and it won't hold, we dig a foundation for the house and it holds WELL! Scott put on a huge pair of rubber boots and dipped out all of the water with a bucket so it could dry out. This is a view of the bump out side of the house where the fireplace will go. The weather is predicting rain. This means there might be a delay before pouring the basement walls.

The forms are up! Now we need temperatures to go up as well. We have to have temperatures at night above 20 degrees for the concrete to cure. According to the weatherman, this should be possible by next Monday or Tuesday (Feb. 23-24).
